It has been a very long time since I’ve done a tag post, but occasionally one pops up that takes my fancy. This time round its the AM & PM Routine Tag which I’ve seen on a few people’s blogs. I absolutely love reading about people’s routines, I’m generally such a nosey person and I love hearing how different people wake up and wind down. I am the sort of person that needs routine in my life, if I don’t have it then I crumble and basically end up in bed all day binging netflix. So I have pretty strong routines that I adhere to, so that I can actually function as a human.
What is your morning beauty routine?
I mostly just use the Garnier Micellar water to wash my face in the morning as I don’t actually like anything too heavy. I then love using facial mists and sprays as they are so refreshing and help me wake up, my favourite is the Jurlique Rosewater Mist as it smells amazing and I really feel it hydrating my skin. I then go in with my moisturiser. Over the winter months I’ve been reaching for Kiehls Ultra Facial Cream as it’s so thick, but I’m currently on the lookout for something lighter.
What’s for breakfast?
I try to switch up my breakfasts quite a lot otherwise I get bored. One of my favourite recipes is for cacao overnight oats but other times I have a healthy granola, some rye bread or pancakes. I normally prep my breakfasts the night before, as otherwise I would just have cereal everyday.
Coffee or Tea?
I don’t actually drink hot drinks, apart from the occasional hot chocolate. I know, shun me from British society. This doesn’t mean I don’t get thirsty though, I always make sure I have a big pint of water with my breakfast and pretty much always finish it.
How long does it take you to get out the door?
I give myself quite a lot of time in the morning as I hate rushing and love actually sitting down and enjoying my breakfast. If I decide to stay in bed that little bit longer, I can get ready in about 25 minutes, I shower the night before so this cuts down some time. On the weekends I spent a lot longer getting ready as this is when I really experiment with hair and makeup, I could easily spend an hour and a half prettying myself!
What is your go to makeup look on a fuss-free morning?
Even if I go ‘fuss free’ I always pay quite a lot of attention to my base makeup, I would rather spend more time on my concealer and foundation and then just wear mascara. Brows are also a must, but if I’m going light on the eyes I only go light on these too. I tend to go for a tinted lip balm like the Dior Lip Glow on the lips for a quick, easy but effective look.
What is your evening beauty routine?
I absolutely love taking my makeup off after a long day at work, so I use my Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm to take it all away. I sometimes do a mask, normally go for one of my Origins set ones. I have really got into serums recently too, and I’ve been particularly loving applying the Antipodes Night Serum just before I go to bed.
Snack time! What’s in the bowl?
I’m actually not that much of a snacker at home and we don’t really have snacks in so even if I wanted to then I couldn’t! The one thing that I do make sure we have in is a big bar of dark chocolate, normally Green & Blacks or Montezumas. I have a line (or two) of this every night after dinner and that satisfies my sweet cravings.
How do you wind down and prep for bed?
I find it hard to switch off at night, once I’m asleep I’m fine as I’m a deep sleeper, but it can sometimes take me hours to get to that state. One thing that helps is reading and I’ve been making more of an effort to get into bed earlier and read recently. I really want to try a pillow spray too, so any recommendations please holla.
Cosy up! What are you wearing to sleep?
I used to have so many lovely pyjamas when I was younger and I feel in recent years I just haven’t prioritised buying them as they’re quite a luxury item. So I often just sleep in old t shirts. I do have a primark set which are pretty snug but I definitely want to invest this year in some good sets that I can wear around the house too.
What are some things you must do before hitting the hay?
I am terrible at obsessively checking my phone before I go to sleep. I pretty much go through every app on my phone and check it’s all ok, and then as soon as I wake up I do the same, so bad I know.
