I wrote previously about my lack of experimentation in May due to having to live out of a bag for two weeks, so this month I’m planning on going a little bit crazy. I’ve got so many new products to try and now it’s June I feel like finally we can embrace summer makeup – although I’m not sure the weather is embracing summer yet. Bar a few old favourites, you’ll notice this post is made up mainly of those new products as I really do plan on switching things up!
Eau Thermale Avène Hydrating Skin Tone Perfector*
When this arrived I almost discarded it as I swatched it and it was much too dark. Like, literally dark orange aka not my skin tone, well not anyone’s skin tone. But the other day I decided to give it a go, and actually apply my makeup with this as the base, and wow I’ve never seen a product adapt so well to your complexion. The coverage is slightly too light for me at the moment because my skin is a mess, but with some concealing it’s a lovely light base for summer.
Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
Speaking of that concealing, this is of course my choice for June. I mainly use it under the eyes as the lightest shade is a tad too light so it’s a great brightener. Typically, the shade darker is too dark. However, despite my issues with the shades I just love the formula and I’m pretty sure I’m going to repurchase this again and again and again.
Too Faced Sweethearts Blush in Sparkling Bellini
My sister went over to New York in May and was so lovely to pick me up some beauty bits! One of them was this absolutely gorgeous blush from Too Faced. I haven’t tried any face products from Too Faced but have heard amazing things, and I knew instantly I’d love this coral colour. I’ve used it basically everyday since I’ve had it, which is rare for me as I normally switch up blush daily. But I can’t get enough, full review coming soon!
Clarins Ombre Iridescente in Golden Sand*
I was super excited to try these new cream eyeshadows from Clarins and they sent me two gorgeous colours, this one and a copper toned one. I love both but this is a perfect everyday shade. They’re really easy to use as you don’t even need a brush, you can just dab them on, and they produce a beautiful shimmer.
Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper
I go on and off eyeliner, funny enough I kind of use it as my lazy option, when I can’t be bothered to do a proper eye makeup look I just whack some eyeliner on. And that eyeliner of choice recently has been this one from Kat Von D. It really is worth the hype it receives, it just does not budge and it glides on so easily with the brush applicator.
Benefit Gimme Brow
I got this free when I went for a Benefit brow wax which is great timing as my ABH Pomade has already dried up after only a few months of having it (did this happen to anyone else?!), so this has been my replacement. I’m the happiest I’ve ever been with the shape of my brows at the moment, not quite ‘on fleek’ but a definite arch is forming. This is so easy to use and just slightly fills them and sets them in place.
Benefit Roller Lash
Whenever I mention this mascara on my blog I get comments of people saying they hate it, and I really can only apologise that I just keep banging on it about, but it’s my mascara of choice I can’t help that I like it! It just stays on and actually holds a curl, which is rare for my poker straight lashes.
Saturated Colour Lipstick in 1st Base*
You’ve probably not heard of this brand, and I hadn’t. But they are the old distributers of NYX so they know what they’re talking about. They sent me this lipstick to try and I’ve fallen in love with it. It’s a lovely moisturising lipstick without being too creamy, and the shade is a rosy brown shade that is super flattering. I’m sure I’ll be reaching for it lots this month as a good everyday shade.
Clarins Lip Oil in Red Berry*
I’m very very intrigued by this one. You all know I completely adore the honey scent/shade of the Clarins Lip Oil, so was so excited to receive their red berry version. I normally use the oil as more of a prepping product as it leaves my lips so soft, but I really do like the finish too so I’m excited to try one with some colour. I’ll report back asap!
What’s in your June makeup bag?
