Every year my dad and I head over to Oxford Street just before Christmas to do some makeup shopping. It’s our little tradition and once I’ve picked out some goodies he goes home and wraps them up (all individually!!) and I open them Christmas day. It is always such a lovely day and this year we had as good a time as always. Prior to our day out I always write a beauty wish list as I like to have some ideas in my head so I don’t get completely overwhelmed, but to be honest I do quite a lot of deviating. Today I thought I’d share with you everything that I got from our day out and what I actually ended up choosing!

Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick in Lolita II
I do really like liquid lipsticks but I don’t have the biggest collection of them and I’m hardly an expert unlike some other bloggers! However, all those experts say that the Kat Von D ones are one of the best formulas so I knew I had to try it! I was only saying the other day that I wanted more burnt orange/terracotta lip products, and Lolita II hit the nail on the head. I can’t wait to try this one, I’m sure it will be as good as everyone says it is!

Clinique Blush in Plum Pop
Peach Pop is one of my favourite everyday blushers as it has a nice pigmentation level, without going overpowering and I find it really easy to blend. I think it made sense to build my collection and get another shade from the range. Plum Pop is a lot bolder than Peach but equally as pretty. Whilst my blush collection is quite extensive I don’t think I have anything like this bright pink shade so I’m excited to give it a go!

NARS Eyeshadow Duo in Kalahari
I think this is the first time I’ve been and not bought a full eyeshadow palette, but actually this year I have been loving duos and quads way more than palettes so I felt it made sense to expand my small collection. I’m such a huge fan of NARS Isolde, and I’ve been eyeing up Kalahari for a while as it contains two gorgeous shimmer shades that are just perfect for everyday. I’m still yet to try this one but I’m sure the formulation will be as high quality as NARS products always are.

NARS Lip Gloss in Priscilla
I’ve been eyeing up the NARS lip glosses ever since Turkish Delight was the most popular beauty product on the internet. For some reason 20 quid on a lipgloss just felt extortionate (probably because it is) but this year I just couldn’t resist. Priscilla is a gorgeous rich pink shade, that reminds me of something Cher Horowitz would wear – which is always a good thing. I tried this the other day and I think this formula is now officially the best lip gloss formula EVER and I just love the bold colour. So girly and perfect.

NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Yu
I know this shade looks very similar to Priscilla, and it is, but I just had a bit of a bright pink moment whilst shopping. I actually think this kind of shade is really flattering on me, especially now I have blonde hair and it’s a bit more exciting than wearing my standard dusky rose shades (although I’ll always love them). I love the NARS lip pencils but haven’t tried the satin ones yet, but my mum loves her so I felt confident. I love the idea of pairing Yu and Priscilla together for a high-gloss but long lasting finish.

MAC Lipstick in Velvet Teddy
I did it, I finally got it! Pretty much every time I go into MAC I end up swatching Velvet Teddy and honestly I can’t believe it has taken me so long to finally succumb. I did swatch a fair few lipsticks including Twig which was on my original wish list, but this time I really felt compelled to buy Velvet Teddy. I was always convinced that it wasn’t going to suit me, despite everyone saying it’s universally flattering, and I’m really pleased to say I was wrong and they were right – it looks fab.

Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Bronze
I’ve become a lot more playful with bronzers over the last few months, but the one thing I noticed is that all my bronzers are very mattifying. Whilst this is great for contouring and sculpting, I wanted a more traditional shimmer bronzer to give me that sunkissed glow. I hadn’t swatched this one before but as soon as I did, I knew it was for me. I’ve used this is a fair amount already and it really warms up my entire complexion and gives me that post-holiday look. I love it!

BECCA Backlight Priming Filter
I put this on my wish list even though I didn’t know if any of the nearby Space NK’s sold Becca. Luckily, the one near Bond Street has a very small selection of Becca now including their much coveted Backlight Priming Filter. So many people have recommended this to me as they know I love that glowy look and I am instantly wow’d by it. Out of the tube it doesn’t look like much but once applied it makes me skin look seriously radiant. I can see this becoming a favourite!

Bumble & Bumble All-Style Blow Dry
I pretty much knew I wanted some new haircare from Bumble & Bumble but wasn’t 100% what to go for. With a little research and reading the back of the bottles I ended up choosing this All-Style Blow Dry Cream. I’m very hesitant of buying creams for my hair as I have fine hair and they can often weigh my hair down but I’ve used this once so far and it was really lightweight. It’s a bit of an all-rounded hair product, it volumises, adds heat protection, prevents frizz and oil build up and just generally leaves hair looking and feeling healthy. Like I said I’ve only tried this once but my first impressions are great, my hair just looked 100 million times better than normal! I will report back more!
