It’s been a while since I’ve paid much attention to beauty boxes. I used to be a complete Glossybox addict, dabbled a little with Birchbox and toyed with other boxes which are now long gone. I got fed up of ending up with loads of samples that weren’t right for me, or that I simply didn’t want. So when Latest In Beauty got in touch about their completely different type of beauty box, I was interested.
With most beauty boxes you get what you’re given, but with Latest In Beauty, you curate your own box, picking from a large library of products. And trust me, the library is big, and even since I ordered mine there’s a whole host of new products in. They have some amazing brands and it’s a mixture of travel size and full-size products, but nothing is too small. There are no tiny sample sizes in sight! You can also use their personalisation tool to find out products recommended for your taste, skin type and hair. Latest In Beauty kindly gave me the chance to make my own box, so I thought today I’d share what I picked out.
The White Company Candle in Orange Grove
There’s a The White Company store in our local town and I always find myself in there lusting after their gorgeous candles, so when I saw one in the product library I knew I had to have it! This little candle packs quite the punch and you still get an impressive 15 hours of burn time to it, definitely a great pampering way to start my box off!
REN Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial
I’m pretty sure REN were the first high-end skincare brand I tried and I still adore them to this day as their products always have such instant effects on my skin. This 1 minute mask is packed with vitamin C, and I’m really trying to use more vitamin C on my skin as it does amazing things for fading scarring – which I have. You apply this 3 times a week and I reckon this sample will last me around 3 weeks, which is a good amount of time to see if it’s worth investing in the full-size version. I’ve used it once so far and my skin was definitely instantly brighter so I can’t wait to keep using it!
Oskia Renaissance Mask
As soon as I saw Oskia I was pretty damn excited as I’ve heard so much about this brand and never used them. Siobhán at Beautylymin is basically my skincare guru and always raves about this mask so I’m expecting good things. It’s a twentyish minute mask so I’m saving it for a proper pamper evening!
Bumble & Bumble Invisible Oil Primer
I’ll always have a special place in my heart for Bumble & Bumble as they were always such an aspirational brand for me, and the idea of owning some of their products still excites me. This is basically a glorified heat protectant but with additional detangling, defrizzing properties etc. I’ve used it once and didn’t notice a massive difference, although that’s not really a bad thing as my fine hair normally reacts badly to new products. I can rest assured my hair is being protected!
Philip Kingsley Body Building Shampoo
Now this is a product I found using the personalisation tool, I was tempted by the conditioner too but thought I’d start with the shampoo as I’m always on the lookout for volumising shampoos. I was really impressed when this arrived at the size of this miniature, I’ll definitely get a good few uses out of it. I’ve used it once and although I didn’t like how it didn’t foam up that much in the shower (I’m a sucker for that), it definitely made my hair feel fuller, so thumbs up so far.
REN Flash Defence Anti-Pollution Mist
People always talk about pollution in London and to be honest I’ve never really noticed it, but since I’ve stopped working and living in very central London I’ve definitely seen a difference in my skin. My skin is so much less clogged up than it used to be! I still go into London quite a lot though so I thought this was the perfect spray for the occasion. I love how it’s travel sized as actually it fits into my handbag perfectly for a refresh. I love mists, I love REN, what’s not to love here?
Vita Liberata Self Tanning Night Moisture Mask
This year I’m determined to have some sort of self-tanning routine as I’m normally so flakey with it, and whilst I’m good for self-tanning body products, I’ve never actually tanned my face as I tend to just bronze things up. But I just loved the sound of this mask. Basically, you apply it at night and then wake up with a gorgeous sunkissed complexion with no fine lines and nourished skin. I’ve got high hopes for this one…
Nails Inc Polish in White Horse Street
Whilst Latest In Beauty definitely leans towards skincare and haircare (which makes sense for trialling travel sizes), I couldn’t resist but pick up a few makeup bits too. Firstly I spotted this full-size off white Nails Inc polish and it went straight into my box. I really like Nails Inc actually and I want to try more from them, and this is such a wearable shade that it’d be rude not to try.
Kiko Velvet Touch Creamy Stick Blush in Hot Pink
Last but not least I went full out makeup with this Kiko creamy blush stick. Now I’m trying to dabble with cream blushers a little more, especially as Summer comes round, and I’ve definitely heard good things about these Kiko sticks so I thought it was an obvious choice for me. I love the hot pink shade, it’s very typical me, and it’s had a fair amount of use since I’ve had it. Another win!
Overall, I’m so impressed with Latest In Beauty. I got so sick of having sachet samples with my other beauty boxes, and when it comes to skincare particularly you just can’t tell if you like something with one use. These are all decent sized products which will last a few applications and let me know if I actually want to upgrade to full size. A very clever idea, and definitely something I’d recommend!
