What’s In My May Makeup Bag

I did a poll on Twitter the other day, checking that people weren’t bored of these types of posts aka monthly favourites, what’s in my makeup bag and much to my relief it was an overwhelming thumbs up to still enjoying them. I am considering sprucing things up next month though but I’ll report back once I’ve actually come up with some ideas as to how! For now, you get my standard old makeup bag for May. There are some new things in here, both from blogger mail and my own shopping, and a few things I’ve rediscovered from shopping my stash.

M. Asam Perfect Teint Primer*
If you follow my instastories (subtle plug) then you’ll know I went to Beautypress recently, where there was a selection of brands from all over the world to speak to. I got chatting to the lovely ladies at M. Asam, a German skincare company which sell on QVC, and they gave me the most generous goody bag. The product I was most excited to try was this primer, you know I’m a sucker for skincare/makeup hybrids, as it’s meant to blur just about everything. My skin is really good at the moment but I’m finding my foundation isn’t applying to my nose easily and tends to go patchy, so I’m hoping this will help. It’s silicone based which I know isn’t everyone’s favourite but sometimes I think nothing beats it when it comes to creating a smooth canvas.

L’Oréal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation
I’ve mentioned this a lot on my blog recently as it’s one of those products I’ve fallen for straight away. I’ve always been a full coverage kinda gal, but actually, I don’t really need that coverage at the moment, and I really wanted to try something lightweight for everyday use as the weather gets warmer. I’d heard this was the best cushion foundation on the high street and it has top marks from me. I love how dewy it is on the skin and how it evens out skin without masking anything. It isn’t the most long-lasting foundation but I’m still a fan and I can see myself using it even more throughout May.

Sensationail Peel Off Polishes
Another brand I spoke to at the Beautypress event was Sensationail. Now I recognised them instantly, and they do sell in Boots so I guess this explains where I’d see them beforehand. Their main thing is their at-home gel kits which I’m really excited to try and will probably review, but for now, I thought I’d mention their peel-off polishes. Now I assume these are either really new or not out yet as I can’t seem to find them anywhere on the internets but I’ll keep looking. I used to obsess over Little Ondine and their peel off polishes and I’m really excited to see if these are as good, and I also love the gorgeous shades I was given. Very excited to try.

Clarins Instant Light Lip Oil in Candy*
Ah old friend, we meet again. You guys know how much I used to adore these lip oils, they completely transformed my lips from being dry and flaky to staying hydrated, smooth and smelling amazing. I still use my honey one but not as much as I used to, but since I’ve had their new shades I’ve been reaching for them basically everyday and I’ve fallen in love all over again. I particularly love the new Candy shade which is a gorgeous vibrant pink, oh and it literally smells and tastes like sweets. Obsessed.

MAC Lipstick in Peach Blossom
I mentioned Peach Blossom in my High-End Spring Lipstick Collection and it kind of reignited a new love for it. Peach Blossom has always been slightly overshadowed by my other mac lipsticks which are either bright like Crosswires or iconic lipsticks like Velvet Teddy and Plumful, whereas this one is just a simple nude shade. But actually I’ve been trying it out more and more since I wrote that post and it has become such a favourite. It has been in my handbag basically everyday and I can’t see it leaving anytime soon.

Too Faced Sparkling Bellini Blush (Review)
Sparkling Bellini is not only one of the prettiest blushes I own but it’s also one of the biggest, so it hardly gets ignored in my collection. But it’s not really autumn or winter appropriate so I’ve been pushing it aside for a few months, but now I think it’s finally time to start paying it some love and attention again because it really is a gorgeous blush. If you want to see swatches and photos of it on my face, head over to my full review. I’m sure you’ll see why I love it so much!

NYX Tame & Frame Brow Pomade
Recently, I’ve been playing around with lots of different brow products and formulas such as the Rimmel Brow Shaker, which I have a love and hate relationship with, and various other powders. But actually I think pomades will always be my favourite and you can’t get much better than the NYX one. So it has become a complete regular in my routine again. Watch this space though as I have a few YSL brow products coming my way…
