Whilst in my spring collection posts, I stuck to lipsticks, nails and blushers, this time round I thought I’d extend things out a little bit to talk about complexions. My summer base products are so different to my winter base products so it would have felt weird not to include them and not to talk about the changes I make in my makeup bag. I haven’t included all the bronzers, concealers, highlighters and foundations I use throughout summer (obviously) but I’ve picked out some favourites that will definitely become regulars throughout the warmer months.

B Cosmetics Sheer Liquid Illuminator
From the packaging, I thought this might be some gel-like tanning illuminator which would be way too dark for my skin, but actually, it couldn’t be more different from that. It’s actually quite thick in consistency, compared to say the Becca Backlight Priming Filter, but it has so little shimmer in it that it doesn’t feel or look too heavy on the skin. Instead, this milky coloured illuminator has the most gorgeous sheen which is just as beautiful under and on top of makeup. This is honestly one of prettiest illuminators I’ve tried so definitely expect a full review soon.

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo+ Unifiant
This year I’ve discovered a new love for lightweight foundations. I used to always be on a mission for full coverage which is ridiculous because I don’t need full coverage and actually I’ve been enjoying letting my skin look like skin again. Effaclar Duo was my favourite moisturiser for years and I love this tinted version because you still get the nourishing ingredients whilst evening out your complexion a little. It’s a touch too dark for me in winter but in summer its the perfect match.

L’Oréal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation
I was unsure whether to include this because I now have mixed feelings about this foundation. I absolutely love how it looks on the skin, it’s the perfect dewy and glowy base, but you just get zero product in it which makes it really bad value for money. It’s pretty pricey for a high street foundation so I’m still unsure whether it’s worth repurchasing. I’ve included it because it is a gorgeous summer base, and if money isn’t an issue you’ll love it!

Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer
I’m sure none of you are shocked to see this concealer appear on my blog again as you know I love it for a hydrating and lightweight base product. It doesn’t offer the most coverage so I tend to go in with a corrector beforehand, but if you want your concealer to match your glowy foundation then you can’t find much better than Radiance Reveal!

Rimmel Radiance Brick
This is relatively new from Rimmel and it’s fast becoming a favourite bronzer. I think my issue with bronzer is that I’ve just never been that into matte bronzers, and most popular bronzers nowadays are matte. When I got a bronzer shimmer brick from Bobbi Brown, my opinion of bronzing changed and I became a fan, and this Radiance Brick is almost a dupe. It’s more pigmented than the Bobbi Brown one but with a light hand, it’s just beautiful on the skin. If you like a shimmery bronzer and are on the lookout for a new one I couldn’t recommend this more.

Urban Decay Naked Illuminated in Aura
Looking through my highlighters, I didn’t just want to include a highlight I use all year round like Becca Moonstone or theBalm Mary-Lou Manizer, I wanted something summer-specific. Well, it very quickly became an obvious choice as nothing is more sparkly for summer than Urban Decay Aura. It’s not the most long-lasting highlighter I own and it’s not the most natural, but my gosh is it beautiful! Aura is a golden highlighter with a slight pink iridescent, making it a stunning blush topper as well as highlight. If you want to sparke through summer then Aura is the one for you.
