Looking back at photos of myself even a year ago surprises me as to how far I’ve come with makeup. I’m not exactly an expert as my application skills are still pretty shoddy but I just feel like I know what I’m doing a lot more nowadays, and a lot of that comes from experimentation. This month I’ve experimented quite a lot, I’ve had a fair amount of stuck-inside-no-makeup-days but when I have worn makeup I’ve been going for bolder lipsticks, heavier mascara and more sculpted brows. I feel like my makeup style is constantly developing, and I’ve got a few favourites this month to thank for that.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Foundation
This year I’ve definitely gained more of an appreciation for a lightweight base and I’ve been reaching for just concealers, BB creams and lighter foundations a lot. However, this month, I’ve gone back to wanting slightly more coverage and on those days I’ve been reaching for this Rimmel foundation. This is one of my favourite full coverage foundations as although it covers just about everything, it doesn’t feel heavy at all on the skin and still has a natural, slightly dewy finish. I can’t say I’ve tested that 25 hour staying power claim, but I can vouch for it being long-lasting.

Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip in Echo Park
I’m so bad at buying a new lipstick, wearing it a couple of times and then forgetting about it and this month I’ve made it more of an aim to explore my lipstick collection more, and that includes liquid lipsticks which I’m even worse at using. The Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip liquid lipsticks are definitely the best formula I’ve tried and Echo Park has been a constant favourite this month. If you want to see it in action, I did a mini review of it recently.

Neutrogena Translucent Oil-Control Powder
This month I was lucky enough to work with stockist iHerb to try out some Neutrogena products (post) and for me, the standout favourite was definitely this face powder. I wouldn’t say it’s the best powder for keeping shine at bay throughout the entire day, but the finish of it is just gorgeous on the skin. It really seems to airbrush my skin no matter what foundation I use and lightly mattifies without caking or drying skin out. I use it everyday now and it just finishes off my makeup looks perfectly.

NARS Soft Matte Concealer
I did a full review of this concealer a while ago and I just wanted to report back and say I’m still really enjoying using it. For some reason, this didn’t do great on my skin at first and worked better under my eyes, but this month I’ve been enjoying it all over the face too. It still isn’t the most long-lasting but if I set it with my trust Neutrogena powder then I’m good to go. I’m not going to bang on about why I love this concealer (read the review!) but if you are tempted, I’d definitely say it’s worth it.

Rimmel Extra 3D Lash Mascara
My mascara wish list seems to be very long at the moment – I’m looking at you L’Oreal and for some reason, all of my mascaras have run out/expired at the same time. The only one I’ve really been reaching for all month is this offering from Rimmel, and I’ve been completely ok with that. I’ve been using a lash growth serum (more on that soon) and I’ve noticed a huge improvement in my lashes, especially the lower ones, and this is the perfect all-rounder mascara. It adds volume, length and definition without going clumpy and really isn’t that hard to remove either. I know people don’t rate Rimmel mascaras that much but I’m a big fan of this one.

DHC Liquid Eyeliner
Of course, this had to enter my favourites after my recent rave review about it. I honestly, can’t believe that my beloved Kat Von D has been replaced as I loved it so much, but this is simply better. It goes on way smoother, like it seriously glides on, it lasts all day and is ridiculously easy to remove. It’s just the perfect liner and I’ll be absolutely shocked if this one gets replaced any time soon!
