A Good Old Boots Haul

It has been a little while since I’ve done a makeup haul, as contrary to everyone’s belief, I don’t actually buy *that* much makeup. However, the urge grew and I just knew I had to go into town to pick up some things as my wish list was growing, with a mixture of blogger recommendations and just things I generally wanted myself. I only did this haul the other day so it’s still all very much first impressions, but let’s take a look at what I bought!

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation
For ages, I moved away from medium and full coverage foundations in favour of something light on the skin but recently I’ve kind of reverted and want a more flawless finish. Wake Me Up is a bit of a marmite foundation but I used to absolutely love it so I thought I’d repurchase it as I just love how brightening it is on my skin. I’ve been really enjoying it again but I really wish they would extend their shade range as Light Porcelain is definitely too light and too pink toned for my skin, but the next shade is much too dark. The finish is nice though and it lasts a long time so I think I’ll get my use out of it, just need to bronze it up!

Essie Polishes in Dressed to the Nineties, Lady Like & Girly Grunge
Buying a new Essie nail polish used to be a fairly regular thing for me but it’s been *so* long since a new one has entered my collection. Recently, Sharna reviewed their new Fall Collection and I fell in love with all of the shades. I ended up going for two of the ‘less safe’ options from the collection, the metallic lilac Girly Grunge and the shimmery dark violet Dressed to the Nineties. I normally don’t go for shimmer or metallic nail polishes but these were just so pretty I couldn’t resist, I guess we shall we how much I actually reach for them though. It was 3 for 2 so I also threw in Lady Like from their main collection which is much safer and if all else fails at least I know I’ll love this one!

Bourjois Rouge Velvet Lipstick in Magni-Fig
If you needed any proof that influencer marketing works then look right here. This entire collection has been all over everywhere so I couldn’t resist jumping on the bandwagon myself and picking up one. I really um’d and ah’d over the shade as they have a gorgeous selection and was very close to picking up a nude but in the end I thought I’d go more autumnal and go for the dark purple Magni-Fig. I’ve only tried this on for about an hour just out of curiosity and I must say first impressions are very good. I wasn’t sure how matte it’d be as it feels so creamy on application, but it really does dry down matte. I didn’t find the new shaped bullet that easy to work with but I’ll hopefully get the hang of it.

L’Oréal Paradise Extatic Mascara
L’Oréal have been absolutely killing it with their mascara launches recently and I was so hooked on picking up Miss Baby Roll that when this one came back I was seriously torn. I was this close to picking up both, but L’Oréal mascaras are pretty damn expensive for the high street as they are so I went for Paradise Extatic instead. I’ve heard a lot of people say this is a Too Faced Better Than Sex dupe which is a mascara I’ve been wanting to try for a long time, and whilst I can’t compare, I’ve become an instant fan of this L’Oréal one. It’s definitely a high impact mascara and I don’t find it the easiest to use but it dries quickly and adds serious volume so I’m a fan.

Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lipcolor in Desert
You all know I love a tinted lip balm/sheer lip and with all my bold lipsticks recently, I wanted something a little more everyday appropriate, especially after the boldness that is Magni-Fig. I’ve heard a few people mention these and I guess they’ve replaced my beloved Revlip lip butters? Anyway, Desert is a really safe bet here, just a classic ‘my lips but better’. You really can’t go wrong.

La Roche Posay Serozinc
I’ve become very fussy with my skincare and it’s very rare that I buy something new as I’m so hooked on my current routine. However, Serozinc has been on my wishlist for ages as I’m so lazy with toners and only really reach for them if they’re sprays. Serozinc is meant to be great for oily and blemish-prone skin and has a mattifying effect which is perfect for my t-zone which is prone to shine. Again, I’ve only just started using this so I’ll report back in a few weeks when its had a proper trial, but I must say that I love how fine this mist is, it’s super refreshing and sets instantly. So it’s ticked my first boxes.
