This month I’ve been a lot more experimental with my makeup. I feel like over summer I always lose motivation because on some (rare) days in England it can just be too damn hot, but by autumn I’m well back into the makeup game. Without sounding like a complete cliché, autumnal makeup is definitely one of my favourites and my September makeup favourites see a lot of those transitional makeup products coming back into the mix. So let’s take a look at what I’ve been loving.
Rimmel The Only 1 Matte in Take The Stage (Review)
Not really surprising that this has made its way into my monthly favourites because I’ve spoken about this lipstick a lot on my blog and social media. It’s funny because usually, I’d wear a red lip so rarely, maybe oncee every other month, but with this, I’ve been reaching for it loads. When I say loads, I mean I’ve worn it about once a week – which is loads for a red lip and me. It’s honestly just the perfect red and I can’t get over how long-lasting it is which is always a bonus for a lipstick.
Too Faced Natural Eyes Palette
I went away camping this month and I bought this eyeshadow palette along with me. Now, this isn’t the first time that I’ve bought this palette on a weekend away and I think that shows just how versatile it is because you can create so many different looks whilst still saying travel-friendly. The tin packaging works so well for travelling too because you can rest assured it’s super protected and just like all Too Faced palette it’s amazing quality.
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Budapest
I worked with NYX and Debenhams on a post recently, which was an absolute dream, and one of my favourite discoveries from their bestsellers was this soft matte lip cream in Budapest. I have a few of these lipsticks and whilst I love the formula, this is definitely the best shade I’ve tried. If you want to try a berry lip which isn’t too difficult to wear and isn’t a complete statement lip then I’d definitely recommend this as it isn’t too dark and the formula is comfortable yet long-wearing.
Essie Polishes in Girly Grunge & Lady Like
A lot of my August was spent with a gel manicure and whilst I love them and will definitely be getting one again, I did miss my own nail polish collection and being able to switch up my look quickly. I picked up a few Essie polishes in a recent haul and they’ve really reignited my love for nail polish and for Essie. I’ve tried all three shades now but my favourites are Girly Grunge and Lady Like. I wasn’t sure if I’d like Girly Grunge as I tend to go for mattes but actually, I became mildly obsessed with it on my nails, and Lady Like has become my new favourite everyday shade.
NARS Blush in Sin
I don’t know when or how this happened but NARS Sin just crept up on me and I’ve found myself using it basically every day for the last week. It really, really flatters all the slightly autumnal looks I’ve been doing and I just love the NARS blush formula. I’ve actually lost Luster (how do you lose a blush?!) which I’m gutted about as that’s another autumnal blush I love, but for now Sin is doing a decent job on its own!
L’Oréal Paradise Mascara
This has got to be one of the most hyped up products on the high street in a while with so many comparisons to Better Than Sex going around. Now I haven’t tried the Too Faced original so I can’t compare, but judging on its own merit I do really like this mascara. It builds up really nicely and doesn’t take too long to dry – which can be a major gripe of mine – and it just delivers length and volume without going too clumpy. I like.
