What’s In My September Makeup Bag

For me, September is that month when I start to think about the end of the year. August 31st is still mid year, but September the 1st I’m beginning to think, well better make the most out of these last few months. As per everyone, I can’t believe how fast this year has gone but also as per everyone this is one of my favourite times of year and I just can’t wait for the cosiness of autumn and the excitement of Christmas. I’m also already well in the mood for autumn fashion and makeup and I can already start to notice some changes in my makeup bag for September.

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream
I picked this up mid-August after spontaneously spotting it in Selfridge and I’ve been trying it out ever since. So far, I like it but I’m not completely blown away. I guess that always happens when something is really hyped up though. I haven’t tried it with a beauty blender yet though, only with my buffing brush so I’ll give it a go with a makeup sponge and see if I love it as much as everyone else seems to. I do like it, don’t get me wrong, but I haven’t exactly run on here to rave about it yet have I?!

DHC Liquid Eyeliner
Speaking about running on and raving about, that’s exactly what I did with the DHC Liquid Eyeliner recently (full review) and although it’s a hyped up product, there are still lots of people who don’t know about it yet. I go through phases with eyeliner, sometimes I love it and sometimes I’m all about eyeshadow and at the moment I’m really into the no or minimal eyeshadow looks with really slick eyeliner. I’m loving winged liner and actually bothering with it lots for the first time ever, and it’s always this liner I reach for and will reach for in September.

DHC Mascara Double Protection
So DHC send me a whole package of products ages ago and I’ve been really slowly testing them all, and my newfound love for their eyeliner has inspired me to finally open up their mascara too. One of the major perks of this mascara is that although it’s water-resistant in the day, you only need water to wash it off – I know it makes no sense but that’s science apparently. I’ve only tried this mascara once so far and it’s decent for lengthening but isn’t volumising at all (it doesn’t claim to be) so I’m not sure how I’ll get on with it as I’m well into heavy lashes at the moment. But I’ll continue testing anyway.

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone
I know some people absolutely swear by highlighter but for me it’s not really a daily essential. I just feel none of them shows up on my skin as well as they do on others and they can accentuate my skin texture especially on my nose. However, the BECCA Moonstone highlighter is definitely my favourite and although I don’t reach for it every day, it does show up well and seems to smooth skin rather than the opposite. I also feel it compliments a red lip perfectly, which brings me onto my last product…

Rimmel Take The Stage Lipstick
I’m so into bold lipsticks at the moment, especially reds and I’m already counting the days to regular berry-toned lipsticks of autumn. I don’t have many reds at all and that’s because prior to the last few weeks I just never wore them unless it was for a special occasion, but rummaging through I found this lipstick and thought I’d give it a go. Rimmel sent me the whole collection of these at the start of the year and I was drawn to all the rosy shades and nudes but ignored some of the bolder ones. But this is definitely a new favourite. It’s long-lasting, doesn’t smudge and just a really flattering red. I tweeted a pic of it on recently so check it out.
