I feel like I’ve really dived into the beauty world again this month and that’s pretty much all to do with blogging events. Whenever I go to a blogger event or a beauty press day, I come away feeling so inspired to blog and experiment more with my makeup, and of course, it’s nice to come away with a few new bits to try too. I went through a phase of not going to any at all but in this October alone I’ve been to six so I’ve gone from one extreme to the other! I’m sure you’ll see lots of new makeup over the next few weeks but for now I’m looking at what I’ve been loving and using throughout October whilst attending all those events!
NARS Soft Matte Concealer (Review)
Because I’ve been out and about a bit more, touching up my makeup has become important to me again. When you work from home it can be easy to just watch your makeup fade as the day goes on, plus you don’t have to deal with city pollution, so my handbag ‘staples’ have become a bit more of a thing this month. Number one on that list has definitely been this concealer. I’ve liked this concealer since I’ve had it but I’ve loved it this month as it just does an amazing job for quick touch-ups and you don’t need a brush or anything. It’s the perfect shade for me which makes a huge difference and just had a lovely natural finish.
Clarins Cushion Foundation (Review)
It’s probably not a big surprise that this is in my favourites this month as I’ve mentioned it a fair few times already, including in my full review. I really like cushion foundations and this is probably the best I’ve tried so far as it has a gorgeous dewy finish but actually, has decent coverage and staying power which is hard to find. I’m still skeptical that this will suddenly dry up on me but so far so good.
Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Berry
This month I had a mild panic as I became convinced that I’d lost this, I looked everywhere and was starting to accept that it was gone from my life. Well, I was over the moon when I found it in an old handbag. I rarely go a day now where I don’t wear anything on my lips if I’ve got a full face of makeup, but even then that doesn’t mean I want something heavy. That’s when this tinted lip balm comes in handy. It has better pigmentation than most lip balms yet is even more nourishing and I love the additional SPF in it. I also love the scent/taste. Delicious!
Revlon Ultra HD Gel Lipcolor in Desert
I picked this up in September and haven’t really mentioned it since, but actually, I’ve used it a fair amount in October and it has become a new favourite. This formula is really creamy and reminds me so much of the old Revlon lip butters – it could well be the same formula to be honest – and you all know how crazy I went for them. I like the shade Desert but it’s slightly orange-y for me so I think I’m going to have to pick up another neutral shade when my spending ban is over.
Benefit Gimme Brow
Towards the end of the month I got my eyebrows tinted and threaded at Browhaus and I loved the results. I vlogged the experience if you head to my YouTube channel (not so subtle plug). Since then I haven’t need to fill them in so much, I guess because of the tint, but teamed up with Gimme Brow and they look fab. I’ve always liked Gimme Brow a lot but used it more to set my brow powder, well now I’m really enjoying it on its own for a little colour, volume, texture and hold.
Makeup Revolution Flawless 4 Eyeshadow Palette
I mentioned my love for this in my recent first impressions post and I couldn’t not make this an instant October favourite. In fact, when I was planning my favourites this is the first thing I thought of. I’m planning of doing a full review of this one so I won’t go into too much detail but basically the shades are right up my street, they work beautifully together and the formula of both the mattes and shimmers is fantastic. I’m sure you’ll see lots of this one around!
