The Autumnal Lip Collection Part 1

It only feels like yesterday that I was writing up my summer collection series but yet somehow it was actually a fair few months ago now. As you seemed to like that summer series (and the spring one before that) I thought I’d come back with an autumn iteration, especially as autumn makeup is one of my absolute favourites. I’m not sure yet how many of these I’m going to do but starting with lipsticks was an obvious choice, as I’m having a little bit of a lipstick moment and I just feel like autumn is made for lipsticks. I actually had so many autumnal lipstick picks that I’ve decided to divide this into two parts, this first part which is more neutral and brown shades, and the second part which will be focusing on those classic autumnal berry and red lipsticks. I do realise that lots of the lipsticks in this post look fairly similar – aka identical – but I just love these nude brown shades for autumn so I couldn’t help myself!

YSL Rouge Volupté Shine in 07 Rose Infinite
I picked up Rose Infinite when brown lipsticks were really coming back into fashion and it has been a firm favourite ever since. The Rouge Volupté Shine is one of my absolute favourites as it’s so moisturising on the lips and has a sheer but buildable finish so even their boldest shades are pretty easy to wear. Rose Infinite itself is a rosy-brown shade, so once again, an easy way to try more brown-toned lipsticks and whilst I use it all year round, it gets a lot of love in autumn. You can see it on in this old review.

MAC Mehr
Mehr is a shade that has become so popular over the years and I’m so pleased as it deserves all the hype it gets. The matte lipstick formula from MAC is one of my favourites as they’re quite long-lasting without being too drying, yet still delivering that matte look and the shade itself is a gorgeous warm rosy brown, in fact quite similar to Rouge Infinite but just in a different formulation. Again, you can see this in action on my full review.

Colourpop Lippie Stix in Brink
I really like the Lippie Stix formula from Colourpop and I ordered a new shade Brink a while back after hearing so much about it. Brink is a terracotta rose and slightly more orange-toned than the previous two lipsticks mentioned. Since I’ve had it, it hasn’t had much use as I’ve found it a bit too dark and heavy for summer time, but I can’t wait to use it more in autumn as to me it just screams autumnal lipstick. Lippie Stix have a matte formula but are one of the most nourishing mattes I’ve tried, I do find they bleed a little though which is a pain but I can put up with that!

Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick in Lolita II
I’ve had Lolita II since last Christmas and if I’m honest it hasn’t got much love. It took me so long to get onto the liquid lipstick hype and I didn’t really like them until recently whereby I’ve developed a bit of a late obsession for them. I’m determined to make Lolita II work for me this autumn as it’s the most gorgeous terracotta shade which I can imagine is going to look perfect with a copper eye and autumnal fashion.

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk
Pillow Talk is one of those lipsticks that could literally slot into any seasonal post as it’s a great all-rounder for any time of the year. It’s the classic my lips but better shade with a matte formula, and I do tend to prefer mattes in autumn for some reason so I can see myself using it even more than I already do – if that’s possible. I don’t find it as long-lasting as other matte lipsticks I own but because it’s so close to my natural lip colour it fades and reapplies so easily so it doesn’t bother me.

Rimmel The Only 1 Matte in Look Who’s Talking
You guys know how much I love Rimmel lipsticks and I had to have some self-restraint to avoid making this a complete Rimmel-only post but I couldn’t not put at least one in here. I fell in love with the unexpected Look Who’s Talking back in Winter and I would never have thought I’d like a dark brown lipstick like this but for some reason it just works. The formula of these lipsticks is also one of my favourite mattes ever as they’re comfortably and incredibly long-lasting.

Colourpop Ultra Satin Lip in Echo Park
Last, but definitely not least is Echo Park which has been a favourite since I laid my hands on it. I know you’re probably all sick of me talking about it as I’ve somehow managed to wrangle it into about 80% of my posts recently, but for me it’s just the perfect everyday lipstick. Again, I can see this looking so nice with all my autumnal clothes and hats so I can’t wait to start using my favourite lipstick in my favourite season!
