As a beauty blogger, I know that I’m meant to love makeup all the time but if I’m honest there are some days and weeks where I just can’t be bothered and feel really uninspired. Well, now is not one of those times. I’m having a real makeup moment and just love experimenting with eyeshadow looks, highlighter and bolder lips. I feel like I’ve come a long way with makeup in the last few years and now really understand what works for me and what’s worth experimenting with. This has been massively spurred on by autumn which I always find an inspiring and creative time of year and my makeup bag for October definitely feels autumnal.

Blank Canvas Master Series Palette One
The Blank Canvas Palette One is one of my favourite discoveries this year, not only because of the beautifully pigmented and buttery formula but because of the warm-toned shade selection too. I know warm shadows are really en vogue at the moment but I genuinely think they’re the shades that suit me most and I never knew this a year ago. Although I’m still really tempted by the Naked Heat, I love this palette because it looks slightly more ‘everyday’ than the Heat palette and seems easier to work with. I didn’t reach for this one much over summer but my obsession with it has already rebegun.

Bourjois Rouge Velvet Lipstick in Magni-Fig
I picked this up in my recent Boots haul after hearing all the hype about the range and I’m glad I did as the reviews I’ve read are completely true. These lipsticks are definitely the creamiest and most comfortable mattes I’ve tried, yet this still last ages and have a true matte finish. Magni-Fig is a classic berry shade and whilst I’m not a huge fan of the bullet shape, it’s still a favourite and I can see myself using it a lot throughout autumn and winter.

NYX Strobe of Genius Illuminating Palette
I went off highlighting for a while – what didn’t I go off of!? – and I was leaving it out of my makeup routine but since I’ve had this palette I’ve been way back into it and I can see myself using this even more throughout the upcoming weeks. I can’t work with every shade here as a highlighter as some are simply too dark for my fairly pale complexion, but the darker ones work amazingly as eyeshadows as they’re so pigmented.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blush in Bronzed
My Rimmel bronzer has been a must-have in my makeup bag for months now but on the days when I’ve been going for a highlighter (normally the NYX palette) I’ve been using this matte bronzer instead as otherwise the shimmer can get a bit too much. I raved about this a lot in my Neutrogena post and it really is one of the best bronzers I’ve tried in a long time and that’s coming from someone who’s really fussy with bronzer. I find a lot of bronzers lack pigmentation so you can achieve the “subtle” look, but actually, I prefer a bronzer that has good pigmentation but is really blendable so you can just use a light hand and blend, blend, blend. That’s definitely the case with this one.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation
I’d been wanting to repurchase Wake Me Up for ages because it used to be my favourite foundation and I do just generally love Rimmel foundations anyway. But actually, I’ve been a bit disappointed so far. It doesn’t seem to apply as easily as I remember it applying and the shade is far too pink toned for me. As far as I can remember I used the same shade but maybe my blonder hair clashes with it nowadays. I’m going to persevere through and maybe will try a beauty blender to see if I like it more that way.

NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Damned
If you’ve been reading my blog for a while you’ll probably know how much I love these lip pencils as they’re the most long-lasting formulas I know yet feel so lightweight on the lips. It’s not the most nourishing formula but because it’s weightless you can easily go over with a lip oil or balm to add the extra burst of hydration. I haven’t used Damned in a while but it was one of my most used products last autumn so I’m sure it’ll get a lot of love again this year.

What will be in your makeup bag throughout October?
