Later this week I’m heading to Tenerife with a few friends for a bit of November sun and I honestly cannot wait. Last time I went away was to Italy in October last year and whilst I loved that holiday so much, it was pretty tiring so I cannot wait for a proper sun and sea chilled one. We’re going for a long weekend so I haven’t got the biggest makeup bag going, plus I probably won’t wear that much but you know, I always like to have options. Today I thought I’d share what I’m bringing along with me, expect a lot of miniatures…
Starting off with the base products, I probably won’t bring a primer as if I’m honest I just don’t feel like react that well to my skin unless they’re radiance ones and I don’t think I’ll need too much of that in the sun. Instead, I’m going straight for a base and I think I’ll bring my IT Cosmetics CC Cream as it’s one of those makeup x skincare hybrids and I’ll be welcoming the SPF. I’ve started to like this CC cream now as I wasn’t mad on it at first, I’ve found applying it with fingers makes a huge difference. For concealer, I’ll take my trusty NARS Soft Matte Concealer as it feels nice and lightweight on the skin whilst still concealing everything. For powder, I’ve opted for the Neutrogena Translucent Oil-Control Powder which is one of my favourite blotting powders as not only does it remove shine, it has that “skin blurring” effect and just makes my base look a million times better.
Now I normally have to take multiple blushers away with me, so it’s so nice to finally have a face palette which does it all. I haven’t had the ELF Total Face Palette too long but I’ve tried it enough to know I love the colours and the formula and it’s just perfect for holiday. The two blush shades are gorgeous, a light pink and a light coral and the highlighter is pretty too. I’m going to take a separate Benefit Hoola Bronze because it’s an ultra-mini from my recent Birchbox and takes up like no space and Hoola is one of my faves.
I can’t tell how much eye makeup I’ll wear when I’m away but like I said, I always like to have options and one of the most versatile palettes I have is the Tarte Tartelette in Bloom Palette. It’s such a perfect mix of light, dark, matte and shimmer shades that you really can create so many looks with it and as you’d expect the Tarte formula is just amazing. Again, not sure how much liner I’ll wear but of course it has to be the DHC Liquid Eyeliner Pen which has been a solid part of my beauty routine for a while now.
In a Birchbox I also got the Benefit They’re Real Mascara which I fully intended to not open until my holiday as it’s travel-sized, but the other day I just couldn’t resist. I used to buy this mascara on the reg and I wanted to know if it was as good as I remembered and honestly, it’s better. I can definitely see myself repurchasing it when I’m back away. Finishing up with all my Benefit goodies, I’ll be bringing Benefit Gimme Brow to either wear on its own or with a powder, I’ll decide on the day which powder to bring!
Now lip products are always the hardest choice and I wouldn’t be surprised if I end up taking three completely different ones! But basically, I want to bring a neutral shade, a bright pink and a red. I mean if you can’t wear bright lipstick in Tenerife then when the hell can you? For my neutral I’ve gone for for Clinique Melon Pop Lipstick as it’s one of those peachy summer shades that are so easy to wear – plus I think it has additional SPF. For my bright pink, I’ve gone for NARS Lip Gloss in Priscilla which I loved so much when I first got it but haven’t worn it in ages, now is my perfect opportunity. Finally, I’ll be bringing a red and my favourite red at the moment is this KissMe Liquid Lipstick in Poison Apple which seriously does not budge.
Last but not least I’ll be spritzing with the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray and I must say, after years of just using drugstore dupes, I can now officially say that nothing beats the original as this really does work so well.
