I mentioned in my November favourites that I barely wore any makeup throughout the month as I was so busy and I really want to change that for December. I feel like if you don’t make the most of autumn/winter/festive makeup then it’s a complete waste! I’m super busy again this month but with some fun festive things, rather than just sitting inside working and I’m determined to get out as many red festive lips, big bold lashes and copper eye looks as the month will hold. So without further ado let’s rummage through my December’s very festive makeup bag.
Nude by Nature Translucent Loose Powder
Everything in this post is heavily geared towards advent, so this is a bit of a random one, but I couldn’t NOT fit this in as look how damn cute it is! I ended up taking this loose powder on my holiday as it’s perfect for travel, normally I wouldn’t dream of bringing a loose powder on the go but this is so dinky that it didn’t make a dent in my makeup bag. I really love Nude by Nature products and this powder is such a steal from the collection as it feels weightless on the skin whilst setting everything in place.
Clarins Lip Comfort Oil in Red Berry
Last month I was loving the DHC Lip Cream and whilst I’ll definitely keep using this, as the weather is getting colder I think I need something a little more heavy duty. And as per last year, my choice will be the Clarins Lip Comfort Oils – they really do work a treat. I normally go for the classic honey but actually, their tinted ones are a really nice way to wear subtle colour and the berry shade is perfect for December.
Benefit They’re Real Tinted Primer
This is really new to my collection and I wore it once on a night out and I was so impressed. On its own it doesn’t wow me, although it’s so subtle that it’s nice for no makeup days, but underneath a more heavy duty mascara, it works like a dream. It just takes any mascara to the next level and is a great way to add volume if you’re using a lengthening mascara, or just going really heavy on volume if your mascara is already volumising. I can see myself using this a lot in December.
TheBalm Mary-Lou Manizer
Quite a lot of my highlighters and illuminators fall on the pearlescent/pinky side of things and these don’t really go with the red lip, copper eye look that I tend to rock throughout December, so instead, I’ll be reaching for my “champagne” options. Mary-Lou Manizer is one of the best champagne highlighters out there as it’s buttery soft, very buildable and so finely milled.
Zoeva Cocoa Blend Eyeshadow Palette
This has pretty much been in my makeup bag for months on end now and I don’t think it’s going anywhere anytime soon. I absolutely love this palette, definitely up there as one of my all-time favourites, and it’s just perfect for festive looks. I love the bottom three shades on the left but I also love putting a touch of the cranberry shade into my crease. If you haven’t given into the hype with this one yet then it’s definitely time!
KissMe Liquid Lipstick in Poison Apple
I mentioned this in my recent holiday makeup bag post but a red is just at great at Christmas as it is on sunny holidays. The formula of this is absolutely insane, it’s definitely the most long-lasting liquid lipstick that I’ve tried, but yet it doesn’t feel particularly drying. If you’re after a red that just doesn’t budge, I’d really recommend this beautiful shade.
Rimmel Take The Stage Lipstick
And speaking of my favourite reds, I raved about this such much a month or two ago and just because it hasn’t been mentioned in a while, doesn’t mean that I’ve stopped loving it! Honestly, if you’re after an affordable red then look no further as this is one of the most comfortable matte reds whilst still being long-lasting. My full review has photos of it on so if you want some idea of the colour head there!
