Oh how I’ve let myself down. I was so good for so long with my skincare routine and I’m absolutely kicking myself for letting things slide again. Things started to run out that I didn’t replace and before I knew it I was back to any old moisturiser and just about taking my makeup off. Well, I’m determined for 2018 (new year new me and all that) that I’m going to be better with my skin again. I kickstarted things last week when I went to my mums to stay for the week and packed myself a little skincare routine that was really easy to follow. When I’m at my home I get tempted by serums and masks and end up just throwing on anything, but last week was the perfect way to have some consistency with my new routine. Let’s see how I got on.

Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm

I’ve used cleansing oils for well over a year now but I fancied something a little more nourishing in the winter and I’ve wanted to try this cleansing balm for absolutely years. Well, I already love it. It’s weird as it feels so lightweight on the skin as if it’s not really doing anything, but once rinsed all my makeup is gone and my skin feels squeaky clean. I might eventually go to a double cleanse routine using my Bare Minerals oil first then going over with this. I think that would be a nice combination

Pixi Glow Tonic

I used to always use Glow Tonic but then moved to the Nip & Fab pads for my exfoliation of choice. Well, I’ve run out of both so I thought I’d give Glow Tonic a go again and I now remember why I loved it so much. I had a few blemishes this week that were under my skin and after just one use I felt that this had dried them out and the day after that they had gone without ever surfacing. I’m only using this in the evening as I don’t like using AHAs in the day but already I’m noticing huge improvements to my skin.

Benefit Total Moisture Facial Cream

If I’m honest, I’m not really loving this moisturiser that much as a day cream, which is what I wanted to use it for. It’s just way too heavy for my combination skin. I  can imagine those with dry skin would love it but I can just feel the congestion on my skin building up when I use this. Halfway through the week I swapped this to being a night cream only and it works quite well for that, but I’m now after a daily moisturiser. Recommendations?

Indeed Hydration Booster

I’m obsessed with hyaluronic acid, I honestly think it’s one of my best ingredients for my skin type – combination but prone to dehydration. When I swapped the Benefit moisturiser to night time use only, I started using this as my day moisturiser and it’s probably not enough for my skin – getting that balance is so hard! I do really like it as a booster though so I think it’d work nicely alongside a lightweight moisturiser.

As you can probably tell, the cleansing and exfoliating aspect of my new skincare routine is perfect – love the balm and Glow Tonic. But I need to work out my moisturising routine as these products just didn’t work all that well. Despite that, I definitely noticed my skin improved last week (and has continued to improve) so I’m glad I’m back to having some sort of routine!
