I dipped my toes into the world of Fenty Beauty at Christmas time when I actually queued with my poor dad for ages to get my hands on some products. Turns out the foundation was out of stock in my shade but I still came away with the beautiful highlighter duo which I adore, review here. I love that highlighter so much that I decided to do a giveaway to which the lovely Paige won and when ordering her prize, I couldn’t resist but throw a few things in for myself as I wanted to see how the rest of the range was. I’ve been trialing them for a week or so so today I thought I’d report back with some first impressions.
I was colour-matched instore for this so I didn’t have to worry about shade matches, and as expected it really is the perfect shade match for my skin (I’m 120). It can be really tricky to find warm-toned foundations for pale skin as most tend to be quite pinky but this is perfectly yellow-toned for me without looking like a Simpson. I was surprised how watery this foundation is considering it’s known for being fairly full coverage and it also dries really quickly on the skin so you’ve got to work fast. But, once it’s on it’s just gorgeous. Soft Matte really is the perfect way to describe this, it’s definitely not dewy but it just leaves my skin still looking like a skin – a lovely natural finish. Whenever I’ve worn this, I’ve had so many compliments and it has fast become a new favourite.
I knew I wanted to try one of the March Stix’ but I didn’t want to splurge on the set of three. Going for a highlighter or blush shade would have been my normal choice but I decided to try a contour as I haven’t had a good contour product in ages. I really do like cream contour sticks but the ones I’ve tried have been too warm toned but Amber is perfectly cool-toned to emulate shadows. I like to warm this up on my hand before I use it and then it becomes really easy to blend, not removing my foundation in the process like cream products can. It’s definitely not the most long-lasting formula but it’ll be perfect for nights out when I want temporary cheekbones to spruce up my makeup.
I’m a huge fan of gloss, as you know, so I couldn’t not buy the product which everyone (even gloss haters) seem to rave about. Gloss Bomb is known for being universally flattering and I can so see how this is the case, as although it looks quite dark for my fair complexion, it actually goes on really sheer for a volumised lip look. It smells absolutely delicious, a tasty peachy-vanilla scent and just makes my lips look healthy and full. I can see myself reaching for it a lot.
