Top: Charity shop
Skirt: ASOS (Link)
Black Tights
Shoes: Creepers (Link)
Bracelet: Accessorize
This is the first Outfit of the Day post I have done. I like to take good photographs on my blog and it is near impossible to take one in my quite small university room using a 50mm lens so maybe this is why I have resisted. Plus to avoid my incredibly awkward posing stance…
This is quite a standard, comfortable outfit that I’ll wear just to a lecture or something. I like the contrast of the slightly baggy top with the tight fitting plain black skirt. The chunky creepers also really contrast to the slim fit of the skirt and tights. Some people hate creepers but I absolutely love mine, it was painful to fork out the money but well worth it! I only ever wear them with tights though, not a fan with jeans, but that story is for another day.
The bracelet is so dainty and sweet. It was a gift from a friend a few years ago and comes from Accessorize. Pretty sure they don’t still sell the same bracelet, but they always have similar things rocking around in that shop.Generally I like the mix of loose with baggy and dainty with chunky with this outfit and I hope you like it too!

NOTD: Essie Fiji & Topshop Unicorn

When shopping on Monday I picked up Unicorn from the Topshop make up range, the only beauty pick up of the day, impressive and unusual! I knew instantly what I would combine this with, wearing this nail varnish on it’s own didn’t really appeal to me, it looked like it was made to be a top coat. I bought the much raved about Fiji from Essie a couple of weeks ago, which I featured in one of my haul posts (HERE!) but hadn’t had the chance to wear it yet. So last night I put the two together and something magical happened…

Fiji on itself is a lovely doll-like colour, very pastal and very Spring time. However when combined with Unicorn it really comes alive. Unicorn itself is pink-based as is Fiji so they go so nicely together, complimenting each other beautifully. The photo above of my nails really does not do this justice as you can only faintly see the sparkle. It is completely your decision how much Unicorn you use, I applied two layers so mine really does have a lot of shimmer, perfect for my night out tonight. But you can leave it much more subtle. This is a really pretty combination and makes me feel like such a girly girl as opposed to the usual bright nails I go with.
I haven’t seen much written about Unicorn on the blogosphere which seems a shame as it is such a lovely colour. So I recommend you rush out to buy it, I can’t wait to experiment with using it on other nail varnishes. But Fiji and this really are the perfect duo so who knows if I can top this. Fiji has an incredible amount of hype but really it is worth it!
Have a lovely evening and go and order Unicorn now!

Everyday Makeup Look

Today I thought it was about time I did an everyday make up look. This is how I wear my make up (generally) on a day to day basis, obviously I mix up things here and there but this is how it is done when I’m feeling unimaginative aka in a rush. It contains pretty much all my staple make up items which might be handy for some.
Starting off with a primer and I use L’Oreal Lumi Magique Primer (which I have reviewed HERE) as my base. I then move on to foundation and use a Real Techniques Buffing Brush to apply my Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation (another review HERE). I don’t tend to use a powder on a day to day basis as I feel this foundation holds up well enough. Next comes out pretty much everyones holy grail concealer Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection which I apply either with my fingers or my Real Techniques Pointed Foundation Brush. I then use my NARS Laguna Bronzer on the hollows of my cheeks, on my forehead, god knows why with my chunky fringe, and along my jawline. Blush is one of the things I change the most, reaching for a different one each day. Recently, I’ve been going for NARS Orgasm which goes really well with my NARS Albatross highlighter, you can probably tell I’m a bit of a NARS face product fiend. I use the buffing brush with the bronzer and blush and the Contour Brush with the highlight.
Moving onto my eyes I mostly use my MUA Undressed and primer palette but today added in a bit of the Maybelline Bad to the Bronze Color Tattoo as it is such a gorgeous pigmented colour. I also use the Real Techniques Detailer Brush to run some eyeshadow under my waterline and in my brows. On my waterline I use Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Eyeliner in Nude as I really thinks this helps open up my eyes without looking too noticeable as using a white eyeliner. I then curl my lashes and add L’Oreal Telescopic False Lash Effect Mascara.
For my lips I use whatever lip balm I have available and then layer on a lip product (or sometimes not). This changes on a day to day basis again but a lot of the time I use the Lasting Finish 1000 Kisses Lip Tint in Nothing but nude by Rimmel, this isn’t as dark as it looks in the photograph and is a really nice natural healthy lip colour.
That is pretty much my everyday look!

My Birthday Haul Wish List

In nine days time I am turning the dreaded twenty (twenteen?!) and for once I’m not excited about my birthday. I don’t know why but twenty is just not a nice number to be. Imagine what I’m going to be like when I turn sixty oh god…but anyway yes I am miserable and old. But this blog isn’t for my to cry about my¬†ageing¬†woes and I won’t bore you with that any longer. To make myself feel better I am being materialistic and thinking about presents, hey I’m allowed to try make myself happy on my birthday right? So my dad asked me what I wanted this year, yes I am the lucky kid with divorced parents and two presents woohoo kind of. But I couldn’t think of anything really, only make up of course but I wasn’t too sure if I trusted my dad to go out make up shopping without me. So I came up with the wonderful idea of taking a trip to John Lewis/Selfridge’s and doing a massive high end make up haul with my dad! I actually love shopping with my dad too so I can tell it is going to be a great day.

Goodbye Google Reader

A sad, sad day and a google doodle from the past to reflect my mood. On July 1st of this year Google Reader is no longer going to be with us, this means no more GFC. Okay I’m not too sad, but it is really annoying! I don’t use Bloglovin’ and when I heard this news I thought it would involve hours of me re-following everyone on there. But alas, some good news on this miserable day.

I can’t quite promise all, but it will import your GFC contacts onto Bloglovin’ so that helps a little. This is only a short blog from me today (I have 5000 words to write, dayum) but I just thought this would be a handy link for anyone interested. They have luckily given us some time to sort out all this Bloglovin’ malarky so if anyone is interested you can click HERE for my link, it would be lovely to rebuild my almost-100 followers.
And whilst I’m here I might as well plug my Twitter: Makeupdirectory and I’ll follow any of you back if you comment as I need some people to follow!
Have a lovely weekend if you don’t hear from me as I am very very busy with all this work and actually going away for the weekend. I’ll try do a blog post between now and then as otherwise you have permission to unfollow me. But yeah. Hope I helped!
