Travel Diary: Manchester

I don’t know about you but I love having a nosey into people’s holiday albums and where better to do it than the blogosphere. Originally, this started off with just a bit of Facebook stalking, flicking through the album. But now I’ve finally found a place where people are actually asking me to stalk their holiday photos. I hope I’m not the only one who thinks like this now. Despite this love, me personally, I’m not very good at documenting my holidays. Well, I’m very good at taking the photographs, in fact I’ll go away and take hundreds of snaps but then they’ll just kind of sit on my laptop for months….okay years, with my parents hounding me to get the photos sorted as they want to see them. I think all my family members have lost hope now and expect to see the holiday photos in about twenty years time when I finally sort them. But the good thing is blogging kind of encourages me to maybe take less photos and actually sort through and discuss them, a little diary which will be interesting to look at in the future and maybe interesting for you to look at now.

The Travel Makeup Kit

This Summer it feels like I’ve barely been home, but yet I haven’t been jetting off to exotic places I’ve simply become the queen of the overnight stay. Whether it be back in my university town, to my aunts the other side of London or to Manchester which is my next destination (leaving tomorrow!) I have been living out of a bag. And with all that travel my makeup bag has become fairly standardised. I used to faff so much when packing for an overnight trip debating which foundation to take, which blusher would treat me right and how many of my brushes are actually essential. But this Summer I have perfected the lot to create my ‘travel makeup kit’ which comes with me everywhere. Not everything stays the same each time, I like to change up the colour looks pretty much depending on the clothes I’ve packed but overall the products stay the same.

Skincare Wishlist

A year ago my skincare regime consisted of me splashing some water onto my face and maybe removing my makeup with Tesco own brand wipes. Yet I would sit back and wonder why my skin was in such bad condition, why oh why did I have so many breakouts? Fair enough when I was younger I had the excuse of hormones, and I genuinely do believe I would have had spots no matter what I did at that age. But by the age of nineteen I felt it was time to actually control the warzone that was happening on my face. And I feel I’ve done a pretty good job with improving the situation. However this isn’t story time as I might just save that and try do some sort of ‘inspirational’ blog post on skincare another time. But there is relevance to my slight ramblings as I thought I’d show you what I’ve been lusting over now that I am very much into skincare.

Review: Dr Jart Water Fuse Beauty Balm

I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited and keen to review a product as I have been for this, and boy looking back through my blog it has been a while since I’ve done an in depth make up review. So what better product to re-embrace my full on ramblings than with the Dr.Jart Water Fuse Beauty Balm? In the last few years the term ‘BB cream’ has been thrown around a lot especially in the blogging world. Then came the CC creams and today I saw the shocking advertisement for a DD cream, yes I know I was confused too. All I heard people bang on about with BB creams was that they’re half way between a tinted moisturizer and a foundation; instant turn off. I’ve never loved my skin, I don’t think I have the best skin and I would never feel confident enough going out in a low coverage foundation let alone a tinted moisturizer. So I pretty much decided BB creams were not for me and to leave it at that. However this year I actually introduced a skincare regime into my life and my skin has come on in leaps and bounds. It’s far from perfect but was good enough to convince me to purchase Dr Jart Beauty Balm when casually strolling around Boots. It was a completely spontaneous buy and part of the reason I bought it was to review it. I didn’t feel I had seen enough ‘before and after’ photographs on the blogosphere with BB creams so I thought I’d be a good samaritan and try and fill that void. And that is what I’m doing now and that is why I’m so excited to review this product.

July Beauty Favourites

Part of me feels like all I ever write about on my blog nowadays is my monthly favourites, however they are one of my favourite features to read so I really try to make sure mine go out (and on time) every month. Luckily I arrived back from a holiday to Cornwall and back to my university town just in time to churn out this post about what I’ve been loving this month. A couple of the products I’ve featured I’ve loved so much that I really want to talk about in more depth on an individual blog post – I’m looking at you Dr.Jart – so I’ll keep my chat to the minimum and just give a brief overview before I go wild with a full review later on in the week. Other favourites have just been ideal for all my travels and although they might not make it into my staple make up bag, have treated me well whilst I’ve been away. So let’s get this show on the road.
